Description
A DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE of the SWISS COINS in the SOUTH KENSINGTON MUSEUM; Bequeathed by the Reverend Chauncy Hare Townshend, with Introductory and Historical Notices by REGINALD STUART POOLE, Keeper of Coins and Medals, British Museum.LONDON: George R. Eyre and William Spottiswoode, 1878. First Edition.
Hardcovers, morocco leather spine and pebbled cloth covered boards, spine titled and lined in gilt, 6x10 inches. Pagination: xix, 671 pages.
GOOD condition, the spine leather is rubbed and the cover corners are lightly bumped, otherwise the covers are sturdy and attractive; internally, the pages are toned at the margins, as normal, otherwise they are tight, bright, clean and unmarked. A solid, nice, presentable copy.
This descriptive (i.e. no illustrations) catalogue is an essential reference for anyone interested in rare Swiss coins.
The 1878 First Edition is hard to find, especially with a solid binding. (Beware of copies listed as 1878 editions that are published by Kessinger or other well known print on demand companies.)
