LP was part of an art project by Marclay
it was used to line the floor of the
Shedhalle Gallery
in Zürich
from April 6, 1989 to July 16, 1989
1000 copies were packaged
and sold as a box set (with a poster and postcard)
350 copies were sold separately at Veit Stauffer's
RecRec Store
in Zürich
LP contains recordings of footsteps recorded in December 1988 as well as a tapdance recording,
audible is also the damage done by footsteps during the exhibition at the gallery.
(In 2012 Marclay was declared by the
Time
Magazine
as one of the hundred most influential persons, worldwide.)
