    Description

INDIANS OF THE OZARK PLATEAU by Ingenthron 1970 HC 1st Ed Cherokee Osage +Early INDIANS OF THE OZARK PLATEAU by Ingenthron 1970 HC 1st Ed Cherokee Osage +Early
This listing is for the hardcover book Indians of the Ozark Plateau by Elmo Ingenthron. This book covers the Indians dating back to early man, the Ozark Cliff Dwellers, the Hopewell-Misissippian, the Osage, the Cherokee, and the Algonquin up until the about mid 1800s.The Ozark Plateau is a region west of the Mississippi including parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. This illustrated book is 182 pages long including the index and references. The book bears a copyright date of 1970 and this appears to be a First Edition as no previous editions or printings are mentioned.
You can imagine how hard a First Edition from a tiny publisher is to find. There is a relatively small gift inscription on the front inside cover. Other than that the book is in terrific condition. I have flipped through it several times and haven't seen any creases, tears, marks, dirt, or writing. The corners are not even bumped. There is no dust jacket but I'm not sure there ever was as this is from such a small publisher, The School of the Ozarks Press. I can't even find a reference to them on the web.
If you are a student of Native American history and culture, this book covers a niche that most just ignore.
Shipping for this book will be boxed Media Rate Mail within the USA.
    TERMS (PLEASE READBEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS):
Payment: All you should have to do at the end of an auction is click "Pay Now". There is no need to ask for an invoice or wait for one. I will send an invoice if you request one but my first priority will be to mail the items I have been paid for. I am no longer allowed to say. Due to Bidders contacting me and asking to cancel the order because they "bid by accident" even though they then paid for the item or they "found it cheaper" I am now charging a 15% restocking fee for all cancelled sales or returned items. This fee will apply even if the request comes immediately after the listing ends. I am not a retail chain that can return merchandise or afford to write it off or hold it until next year. This is my family's wallet you are impacting so I think it's only fair that your behavior impact your wallet as well.
Shipping (PLEASE DO READ): Due to US Postal Service problems, I cannot be responsible for delays in delivery or missed delivery dates once the item has ben mailed. ANY requests for special packaging, handling, etc. MUST be transmitted through EBAY (not regular email) to the seller within 12 hours of the end of the auction.
Sellers are pretty much forced to follow Ebay policies for shipping. That means the package must have tracking. In over 17 years on Ebay I have nevertried to make money on shipping. Please bear in mind that the estimated postage includesa slight bump to cover Ebay fees and other postal services (Insurance or Signature Delivery Confirmation for items expected to go over 0, etc) and to help cover the costs of all those petroleum based packing materials (peanuts, bubble wrap, etc). Many items are also insured in case of loss/damage. Ifa package was insured through Ebay's ShipCover, that will not appear on thepostage label or in the postage amount.
On heavier or oversizeitems, I may ship via FEDEX GROUND to try to save you money and/or deliverytime. Similarly, if I can combine shipping for you I will, and will refundany significant savings. Please note that I will not combine items if their size or nature makes it impractical, more expensive or dangerous (I won't ship a lead weight and a porcelain vase together).
InternationalShipping: International buyer's are responsible for their country's import duty or tariffs.International payments may require additional postage toinclude a tracking number or signature receipt. Sellers are pretty much forced to follow Ebay guidelines for shipping, which means theremust be a tracking number used. For International shipping that means PriorityMail, Express Mail or Registered Mail. Frankly, I hate seeing buyers spend that kind of money on postage, but I have little choice but to protect myself byfollowing the guidelines.
ETC: The items I sellcome from various collections and estates. Generally these items have been usedor stored. I have no way of knowing whether the previousowner ever smoked, had pets, stored peanuts, or ever had a musty basement, etc. I do at least a cursory cleaning of the items I sell and will do my best to remove dirt, display dust, odors etc, but I CAN NOT be responsiblefor things like dust in tight corners, odors I didn't detect, or some mark buried in the middle of a book. You're not paying for my time on an hourly basis and you're certainly not paying professional conservator/restoration rates so please be reasonable. I try to be as factual as I can when describing an item. I don't claim to be an expert or collector of the things I sell. I sell a wide variety of items and may not know that a light is supposed to go on when a certain button is pushed or that an item is supposed to have 6 pieces instead of 5, or if an item came with a specific sticker/decal on it. I try very hard to describe things as best as Ican and provide good photographs. Please look at the photos, if you don't see something, ask me, don't assume that it is there. Please don't expect me to be able to answer your more technical or historical questions. If you can put it in words I understand or tell me where to look, I'll do my best to answer yourquestion.
