Vintage Indian Wooden Jewelry Box
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this fabulous, vintage jewelry or trinket box from India. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This wooden box has detailed carved to its exterior, and even to the inside edges and the underside of the lid. The carving includes intricately depicted mythical creatures which looks like dragons. There also are carved patterns of various textures. The dragons inside and out have red cabochon eyeballs. The box has a sliding mechanism (the lower, front panel slides to the right to open the box, as is visible in Photo 5) on the front which allows the box to be locked and unlocked so that it stays securely closed. Inside, there is a removable divided tray which lifts out to reveal another divided compartment. This beautiful box weighs 2 pounds 3.0 ounces unpacked, and it measures approximately 8 15/16 inches by 6 inches by 3 3/4 inches. It would be a wonderful addition to a collection of Asian decorative arts.
Identification
This box is believed to be vintage, but the exact age is not known. It was made in India. There is a paper export label beneath which says, "HAND MADE By M. Sadak Ali & Bros 3rd. Bridge, Srinagar No 4153118."
Condition
The box looks great overall. One of the red eyes on the lid has been replaced, but it still looks quite good. The box has light wear. There are a few tiny edge dings / flakes, but no large or distracting chips. The wood has been freshly waxed. 1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller's choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller's discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
